Project Pragati

Project Pragati launched on November 15, 2022, it has made remarkable progress in supporting adolescent girls and women in the Barmer and Jodhpur districts of Rajasthan, through a partnership with the Foundation for Educating Girls. The core objective of this initiative is to reintegrate girls and young women who have either dropped out or lost touch with formal education into the education system, specifically through the Rajasthan State Open School (RSOS). This approach offers them a second chance to complete their secondary education. Beyond academics, Project Pragati focuses on empowering participants by providing them with essential life skills and career awareness, enabling them to access better employment opportunities. By March 2024, the project had reached a significant milestone, with 1371 girls and women benefiting from 92 Pragati camps.

These camps have contributed to a success rate of over 71% among the 622 girls who actively participated in the 10th-grade exams in 2022-23. The project’s expansion in the 2024-25 phase, through a partnership with the Azim Premji Foundation and Vishakha, has further broadened its reach to 120 villages across seven sub-districts in Jodhpur and Barmer. With the dedicated support of 88 Preraks, the initiative has identified 1580 girls, of which 876 have enrolled in secondary education. The ongoing camps continue to offer valuable educational assistance, with informative sessions focusing on the 10th-grade curriculum, life skills education, and career development. Through these extensive efforts, Project Pragati is making a lasting impact by not only providing access to education but also fostering personal and professional growth for adolescent girls and young women, thereby enhancing their prospects and empowering them for a brighter future.

When we think of other peoples lives as linked to our own, our empathy grows. They’ve demonstrated an amazing ability to help build a brighter and better future for our country. – OLIVER SANDERO
